B2 and B3 Spanish (EAB2/EAB3)

The Spanish studies started in lower secondary continue as B2 Spanish. If you wish to reinforce your command of the language, you can start your studies on courses EAB31 or EAB32.

The studies according to EAB2 syllabus start on course EAB21, which is a joint course with EAB33. Students starting Spanish in upper secondary (according to EAB3 syllabus) are to take the courses from EAB31 onwards.

As a rule, courses are completed in the numerical order, because each course is based on the vocabulary and structures handled in the previous course


EAB31 How do you do, nice to meet you
New acquaintances! On this course you will learn how to greet people, to say good bye, to present yourself and to tell about yourself and your family as well as how to manage in simple situations related to travelling. You will study the following structures: articles, gender and plural of nouns, the present tense of regular verbs, some common irregular verbs and verbal structures, conjugation of adjectives and the genitive form. Evaluated with a number grade.

EAB32/EAB20 This is how to get things done
Everyday life consists of daily chores, study and hobbies. On this course you will learn to talk about those and get familiar with Spanish lifestyle. You will practise moving about in a Spanish town, by asking for directions and giving them. Grammatical structures include: more irregular verbs, verbs with the dative form, the verbs be and have, the passive and numerals. Evaluated with a number grade.

EAB33/EAB21 Leisure and interests
The command of situations related to travelling is expanded. Apart from telling about your leisure, you will also learn to tell about your own life situation and housing. The structures include: accusative, dative and demonstrative pronouns, the present perfect tense, conjugation of adjectives and reflexive verbs. Evaluated with a number grade.

EAB34/EAB22 At home and abroad
You will learn to tell about your daily chores and get a wider perspective to the Spanish-speaking world. You will learn how to use the future tense and the gerund as well as the tenses expressing the past (past. pretirite, pluperfect).

Evaluated with a number grade.

EAB35/EAB23 Then and now
You will learn to talk about past events and your travels. Grammar includes: the use of the past and the simple present perfect tenses and introduction to the reflexive passive form. Evaluated with a number grade.

EAB36/EAB24 Study and future plans
The course deals with summer jobs and great future plans. Besides, issues related to human well-being are also discussed. The subjunctive form is presented. Evaluated with a number grade.

EAB37/EAB25 Culture
Themes are the culture and traditions of the target countries. Structures include: reinforcement of the subjunctive, relative pronouns and revision of past tenses. Evaluated with a number grade.

EAB38/EAB26 Our common world
Themes include environmental and social issues. The structures to be studied are: the past of the subjunctive and conditional sentences. Pronouns are revised. Evaluated with a number grade.

EAB39/EAB27 Science and technology
The command of vocabulary is expanded by means of reading texts of former matriculation exams as well as newspaper articles and extracts from literature. The main points of grammar are revised and reinforced. Attention is paid to improving students' written skills. Evaluated with a number grade.

EAB310/EAB28 Nature and sustainable development
Themes are: nature, natural phenomena and attitude to nature in Finland and in the culture of the target country. The course places emphasis on reading comprehension and writing. A mock matriculation exam may be arranged. Evaluated with a number grade.

EAB311/29 Oral course
On this course we use diverse work methods, with which the students' linguistic competence is trained. The student is guided to pay attention to the differences between their first language and the language they are studying. Studying is done primarily in pairs and in small groups. Fluency and communication methods are trained with discussion and small oral presentations. About 2/3 of the course consists of oral exercises and about 1/3 about the oral course exam. Evaluated with a number grade.


EAB312/EAB210 Abi-course
The applied course aims to brush up the student's skills in Spanish. The course is for those students who are taking part to the matriculation examination in Spanish and thus it is required that all compulsory courses have been completed successfully. Evaluated with a number grade. A 4 will not count towards the 75 courses.
