Matriculation Examination

The matriculation examination is a national examination that is organised twice a year. The matriculation examination consists of at least four separate examinations. All participants must take part in either the Finnish as a mother tongue and literature examination, or Finnish as a second language examination. Participants in the three other compulsory examinations select from the following: Swedish, a foreign language, mathematics, humanities and natural sciences. One of the four must be the advanced syllabus. In addition to the compulsory courses, the exam participant can take one or more additional examinations.

Students have the right to participate in an examination only after they have completed at least the subject's compulsory courses before the matriculation examination. The matriculation examination's tasks are formulated from both the subject's national compulsory and specialisation courses' syllabi. It is strongly recommended that students choose specialisation and applied courses in the subjects they intend to take examinations for. The matriculation examination may be completed in a single examination period or in three consecutive examination periods.

Registration for the Spring 2018 matriculation examinations must be done before 23.11.2017 and registration for the Autumn 2018 closes on 30.5.2018.

An information session for the Autumn matriculation examinations will be held 23.8.2017 at 14:20pm in the small gym. An information session for the Spring matriculation examinations will be held 24.1.2018 at 14:20pm.
